Apprentice Mechanical Workshop Technician, Cranfield University

£14,000 to £16,000 per annum, dependant on skills and ability

We are looking for an individual who would like to develop and build a career within Mechanical Engineering.

Cranfield Impact Centre (CIC) is a testing laboratory with over 30 years’ experience of testing structures across a variety of industries. We have been at the forefront in formulating legislation for Formula 1 and Coach Industries.

Our unique facilities include a sled track, static test bed and a range of drop towers to perform a comprehensive range of tests. Structures that we regularly test include Formula 1 nose cones, aircraft seats and packaging, for our high profile, clients.

The primary role is to successfully complete an apprenticeship development programme leading to an Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3. This will involve attending day release at Bedford College.

  • FIA Approved Site for Crash and Shock Testing of F1 Vehicles
  • Sled Deceleration Testing of Structures and Dummies
  • VCA Approved site for Coach Rollover Testing
  • Moment of Inertia and Centre of Gravity Measurement
  • Finite Element Modelling of Accident Reconstruction
